- COLOUR - The colour palette for this piece ranges from light to deep purple and every variation and hue in between. This colour scheme was chosen to symbolize power, nobility, luxury, and conveys a feeling of extravagance, creativity, mystery and magic. As purple is a very rare colour in nature, it reinforced the concept of its use with relation to the mythological ancient goddess “Aphrodite”. The use of deeper colours to highlight specific points of visual interest in the piece and softer colours to compliment, helps to not only create a dynamic effect, that parallels the beauty of Swarovski Crystals, but evokes romantic and nostalgic feelings, in an already extremely sensuous and feminine design. - VERSATILITY - To expand on the contemporary elements of this piece, the use of two magnetic clasps have been incorporated to allow for part of this necklace to be detached and worn as a wired cuff bracelet as well. To be able to utilize the beauty of Swarovski Crystals in more than one way is a unique and diverse way to approach modern jewellery design and is a factor that took precedence in the creation of this piece. - MATERIALS - Silver artistic wire forms the structural basis for this unique design which supports an abundance of Swarovski Crystal bicones of various size, cubes, pearls and simplicity style beads which are nestled around a floral centre-piece made from a collection of wired hearts. A spectrum of colour radiates from the floral focal point, which sets the tone of the colour palette for the entire piece. Crystal, Blue Zircon, Tanzanite, Erinite, Light Amethyst, Dark Grey all wired into an elegant design to showcase the faceted beauty of each individual crystal. The feature component in this piece that makes it unique is the magnetic clasps that are used to allow the necklace to be converted into a cuff bracelet. |

COLOUR - Shifting sands, brilliant light, and earth tones were used as the influence regarding the colour palette, with particular emphasis on the colour Topaz and all it’s variations. This colour scheme was chosen to represent, the energy of the sun, and warmth of desert sands. Yellow/Gold is the colour most visible to the human eye, and to help create visual interest in this piece, topaz has been used in the central part of this exotic creation to signify a wealth of mystery and majesty. The design of this piece is born of the brilliance and majesty of the desert plains and the light that touches every corner of the land. Sweeping design elements are used to parallel the ever changing landscape of the Sahara, and with shimmering exuberance the design rises up before you in a dimensional array of sparkling light, mimicking the “mirage” that tempts and is tangible, but unreachable. - MATERIALS - Silver artistic wire forms the structural basis for this unique design which supports an abundance of Swarovski Crystal bicones of various size, pearls and simplicity style beads which are nestled around a floral centre-piece made from a collection of wired hearts. - COLOUR - The colour palette for this creation follows the path of romance, where it blossoms at the top of the piece, with softer mixed colours of various hues of amethyst and rose to symbolize a “new love” and descends into a more vibrant, true colour - red for “true love”. The amethyst and rose colouring, conveys romance and friendship and is used at the top of the piece for this reason. Red however is a very emotionally intense colour and therefore was used in the lower half of the design to symbolize power, passion, desire and love. The use of deeper colours to highlight specific points of visual interest in the piece and softer colours to compliment, helps to create a dynamic effect, that parallels the beauty of Swarovski Crystals, in this extremely sensuous design. - DESIGN - The design of this piece embodies the theme of love and romance, and in an almost chaotic but structured style signifies a link between a “first love” and a “true love”. The twisted wire neck ring which forms the structural basis for this creation represents the path that leads to a union of hearts which then spreads in all directions only to finish at the bottom with one beautiful, lone Swarovski Crystal in red. To be able to utilize the beauty of Swarovski Crystals in an elaborate design like “Valentino”, was a creative challenge that allowed me to use a medium that perfectly conveyed the idea behind the piece. - MATERIALS - Silver artistic wire forms the structural basis for this unique design which supports an abundance of Swarovski Crystal bicones of various size, and simplicity style beads which are nestled around the floral focal point made from a collection of wired hearts. Silver artistic wire in various gauges has been implemented into this piece to fulfill the requirements of the design and to support the overall structure and layout of the crystals. |

“Aphrodite” - CONCEPT - In Greek mythology, Aphrodite is the Goddess of Love, Beauty and Rapture. She was irresistible to all, loved gaiety and glamour, and it was well renowned that amongst her attributes were the dolphin, the dove, and the swan. “Sarabi” - CONCEPT - The intensity of the sun and shifting desert sands are the inspiration for this piece. The idea surrounding the sun, and it’s radiance within the facets of crystal led me along the path to explore an place of exotic and haunting beauty, which tempts the soul to reach out for the thing it desires most, but cannot behold. The sun represents the source of life on earth, and is an important part of mythology, art and literature, and in this case jewellery design. |
